Welcome to Open Window Restore

I’m Patricia Skelton, decorative artist and founder of Open Window Restore, where I create one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by the beauty of timeworn European interiors, aged finishes, and objects that feel as though they have a story to tell.

My work is rooted in transformation. I’m drawn to pieces that others may overlook—the vintage find, the forgotten frame, the simple decorative object—and I love imagining what it could become.

Using traditional decorative techniques, layered paint, plaster, cracked finishes, waxes, pigments, micas, gilding, and hand-applied patinas, I build each finish slowly and intentionally. Imperfection is part of the beauty. Worn edges, subtle cracks, aged surfaces, and layers of color give each piece the character and depth of something collected over time.

Why Open Window Restore?

The name Open Window Restore grew from a belief that has guided me through seasons of change:

When God closes a door, He opens a window.

What began as a creative outlet became a new path and eventually a place where my love of art, restoration, and beautiful interiors could come together.

Today, Open Window Restore is a collection of hand-painted décor, restored vintage and antique finds, architectural-inspired pieces, and original decorative finishes created for homes that value character over perfection and timelessness over trends.

I don’t want my pieces to look newly manufactured. I want them to feel discovered—as though they might have been found in an old European villa, a French country home, or tucked away in an antique market waiting for another chapter.

Because we source and restore each piece individually, no two items in our shop are exactly alike. When something speaks to you, it's yours alone. That's the magic of what we do — and the reason we do it.
